He is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Edrio. They share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres. Benthic's native world of Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. With a desire to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera.

Blaster
Blaster rifle: Benthic often carried a blaster rifle that looks similar to a Tusken Raider cycler rifle.
DT-15 blaster pistol: Benthic carried a DT-15 blaster pistol as his second weapon of choice. The pistol was briefly taken by Luthen Rael to make Saw listen to him.
DH-17 blaster pistol: At some point after the Death Star blew up, Benthic used a DH-17 blaster pistol.
Benthic makes his first appearance in the Star Wars Anthology film Rogue One. He worked as Saw's second-in-command where their groups was based on Jedha, causing trouble for the Empire who were transporting Kyber crystals from the planet to construct the Death Star. Benthic and the others find the Imperial defector Bodhi Rook and takes him to their base.
At the base, Benthic informs of Bodhi Rook, and Saw suspecting him of lying and subjects him to torture from a bor gullet. Benthic then lead another raid to steal kyber crystals, which he sees Cassian gun down one of his men to save Jyn and a little girl. When the two meet up with Baze and Chirrut, Benthic takes the four to Saw's base but takes Jyn to Saw. Later, when the Death Star fired at Jedha, Benthic evacuates everyone out.
Benthic makes another appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story. It is revealed before he meet Saw, he was one of the many refugees whose people were exploited by criminal syndicates like Crimson Dawn. After fleeing his homeworld with his brother, Benthic joined Enfys Nest's Cloud-Riders, a pirate group that took revenge on the Empire and crime lords who subjugated his people.
Benthic accompanied Enfys and her fellow Riders to a rendezvous with Han Solo and his crew on Savareen, convincing them to turn against Dryden Vos from Crimson Dawn, which ended with the Riders taking the coaxium.
Benthic appears in Andor. In Season 1, he of often checking people like Luthen Rael who meets with Saw on their base in Segra Milo after a heist on Aldhani. About a month later Luthen returns with a change of plans but Benthic warns him that Saw is his usual mood, when Luthen comes in Saw eventually agree to help Kreegyr's attack on the Spellhaus power station, but Luthen revealed it was too late and Kreegyr has been captured. Luthen reveals he has a spy in the ISB but this causes Saw to think Luthen has spies even in his group, which Luthen tricks Saw into thinking Benthic is his spy, which Benthic denies and says his loyalty to to Saw, but while distracted Luthen to steal his blaster. When Luthen finaly tells him if Kreegyr is captured, Saw agrees not to warn Kreegyr for the sake of the war.
In Season 2, Saw moved his base to D'Qar, where he had Wilmon Paak, who was part of Rael's Axis network, disposal to manufacture a rhydonium mechanism. Saw had Pluti, secretly an Imperial informant, help Paak. When the rhydonium was finished, Saw killed Pluti. Benthic helps reveal Saws' suspicions to Paak and his men that he knew all along he was an Imperial spy when he finds a listening device. Due to Pluti's treachery, Saw and his men had to move to another base.

Benthic appears in Marvel Comic of Star Wars (2015). He first appeared in Issue 38, where it revealed that after the Death Star fired on Jedha, Benthic managed to survive, but his brother and Saw didn't. He then took command of the Partisans where they went to NaJedha, an oceanic crystalline planet in the Mid Rim, orbited by the moon Jedha.
