Personality
The Fish Queen shows a boisterous yet stern personality, serving as a formidable member of the Animal Council. She is shown to be fearful of humans taking their natural habitats, affiliated with the Insect Queen organizing a council of animals, expressing her concern of the destruction of the animals' natural habitats caused by humans as part of their revenge against them, much to Mabel's worry. As the leader of the fish kingdom, the Fish Queen leads other fish with a long-winded personality, albeit making everyone wait doing a pause while going down for water. She is also shown to incite a school of fish as her reinforcement used for defense.
Physical appearance
The Fish Queen, hence her name, is a large fish with pink skin around her body. She is shown to have a large round head with a pair of magenta lips. She is shown to have a dorsal fin located on the top of her, two pink fins - both on the front and the back as well as a white underside below her head. She also wears green seaweed which she uses as hair and hence her queenly title, she also wears a crown on her head. In addition to her default appearance, she is also shown to live in a fish bowl full of water due to being an aquatic animal.
Role in the film
The Fish Queen is introduced when Mabel and George plan to summon the Animal Council for discussion about Mayor Jerry's plans for a highway above the Glade. After the Bird King was introduced, Mabel sees a school of fish spraying jets of water on a river, which she mistakes it for a water fountain show seeing the purple hues forming a large curtain of water, where the Fish Queen (with a stern expression) appears and lands on the spot where her henchmen are present, just before landing with a big splash. Amongst the other animals introduced after her consist of the Amphibian King, the Reptile Queens, and the Insect Queen with her son Titus.
During a meeting at the Superlodge, the Fish Queen is present attending with a large group of animals who are all gathered to take revenge against Mayor Jerry and his development plans to build a highway on the city. There, she sits on a fish bowl and firmly believes that the strategy Mabel brought her does not concern the fish realm, which she and the other animals decide to leave. When Mabel delivers the evidence by showing a speaker from a destroyed fake tree earlier and a poster of Mayor Jerry, the Fish Queen becomes concerned that humans are polluting the fishes' natural habitats, as the other animals react in fear. After the Insect Queen devises a plan to "squish" Jerry for revenge, the Fish Queen finds Mabel's plans being ideal so that he humans would respect the natural habitats of the animals. Later, the Fish Queen and the other animals inside chant "Squish!" together, much to Dr. Nisha's worry while the Insect Queen plans to summon an apex predator for her plans. However, after Mabel accidentally squished the Insect Queen, the Fish Queen, the rest of the monarchs, and the other animals attending the council turn against Mabel with Titus furious at her for killing his mother, making Mabel the next target while King George escorts her to safety.
As Mabel and George escape, the animals form into a mob and rampage across the forest as the Fish Queen joins the riot, just as Mabel and George are assaulted by angry wildlife. During the chase, George attempts to escape, but is cornered by a school of angry fish on a pond preventing him using the pond to swim away, while the Fish Queen attempts to crush him, only for Mabel tackling Conner in his heron avatar to help save George, much to the Fish Queen's furiously glaring at Mabel and George, viewing them as traitors. Eventually, Mabel and George, manage to escape from the hostile animals and survive the ambush, which the Fish Queen and the other animals retreat back to the Superlodge. As they gather inside, the Fish Queen and the other animal monarchs approach Titus who crowns himself as the Insect King as part of his revenge against Mayor Jerry. Eventually, the Fish Queen and the rest of the animal monarchs serve Titus being their new ruler.
Furthermore, the Animal Council raids the Beaverton University lab as they chant "Squish" together, where the Fish Queen and the other animals gather to see Titus who evolved from a caterpillar to a monarch butterfly, making him the Insect King as Titus takes the lead, much to his tyranny while controlling the robot of Mayor Jerry. The Fish Queen and the other monarchs are then seen listening to Titus (inside the Jerry robot) who is planning to become the mayor via headphones. Eventually, Titus betrays the Fish Queen and the rest of the monarchs by berating them. Just then, when the Jerry robot explodes to cause a wildfire and then the Amphibian King devours Titus for his betrayal to all the monarchs. Afterwards, the Fish Queen and the other animal monarchs notice King George going into the forest, planning to sacrifice the dam to extinguish the fire.
As the wildfire worsens in the city of Beaverton, the Fish Queen (carried by a flock of seagulls) and the rest of the other animals in the forest work together in destroying the dam for backup. There, she commands the seagulls and a school of fish to work together to destroy the dam with more seagulls carrying Diane who contributes with the other animals, successfully smashing the dam to extinguish the fire, which they were able to do so.
Trivia
- Even though it is unknown what direct species the Fish Queen is, it can be assumed she is a freshwater fish, due to living in a woodland forest with the other kings, queens, and subjects of their kingdom.
- Despite both being fishes, it is also unclear if the Fish Queen is queen of every fish, even the ones outside of their pond. It is unknown if Diane Shark takes orders from her specifically or the animal council in general.
