Tech (birth number CT-9902) is a minor character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and one of the tritagonists in Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

Tech is a genetically defective clone of Jango Fett and a member of Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch, a squad of clone commandos who each bore genetic mutations, Tech's mutation is enhanced intelligence, large deposit of technology, and knowledge.

Background

Physical appearance

Tech wears commando armor with a specialized visor that acted as a computer display. A computer terminal is installed into the forearm portion of his armor, enabling him to access a number of versatile functions, such as trajectory calculation, translation of alien languages, and recording and replaying sound effects.

Abilities

• Enhanced Intelligence: Tech's mutation is enhanced intelligence. His large deposit of technology and knowledge, even the most mundane bits, can be incredibly useful in the right situations, whether it be decryption, hacking, making measurements on the fly for the other Batchers, translating alien languages, or recording animal cries. Tech was able to quickly forge new chain codes for Cut Lawquane and his family, despite only just learning them. Although his vast amount of knowledge and strategically-gifted mind are useless when he lacks any sort of information from past encounters to formulate a plan, which allows the Zygerrians to get the drop on them while trying to rescue prisoners from them.
  • Expert Mechanic & Engineer: Thanks to his intelligence, Tech is skilled mechanic and engineer, managing to create a chip scanner headpiece that connects to his datapad. He also knew how to scramble the Marauder's magnetic signature by modifying the ships' signature key.
  • Expert Hacker/Slicer: Thanks to his intelligence, Tech is a skilled in data slicing.
• Skilled Pilot: Thanks to his mutations, his keen mind allows him to pilot ships and speeders with superb skill. His first time participating in a Riot Race has him calmly lay out a strategy to win that relies completely on his piloting skills to use speed and precise timing in comparison to the brute force and dirty tricks of the other racers.
• Military Training: Trained since his creation, Tech is an expert in close quarters combat and a skilled shooter.

Weapons and Equipment

• DC-17 hand blasters: Tech's primary weapons were two DC-17 hand blasters.
• Datapad: Tech also carried a datapad for various functions. Among the tools that operated with the datapad were a built-in comlink, a scanner, and more. Tech's datapad can connect with other equipment like a datachip, a datarod, a computer spike to hack into other devices. Tech also has a clip to put his datapad in his backpack or belt.
• Computer spike: Tech also has a computer spike to allow him to hack into machines, like droids or computer terminal. The computer spike can also function like a data rod, to scan and download information.

Appearances

The Clone Wars

Tech first appears in meeting with Anakin Skywalker, Captain Rex, and Commander Cody. Tech and the rest of Clone Force 99 are assigned to help Anakin and his clone squad retake the Anaxes from the Separatist forces.

Imperial Era

Tech first appears meeting with Jedi Master Depa Billaba and her Padawan Caleb Dume on the planet Kaller. Tech and the rest of the Bad Batch take Caleb with them to take out some Separatist forces as they hear the Clone Wars is coming to end.

Trivia

• Tech is the only clone known to wear goggles.
  • He is the only member of the Bad Batch who didn't have a second outfit as Hunter and Wrecker had civilian outfits, Echo had a Droid disguise, and Crosshair had imperial armor.
  • He is also the only member of the Bad Batch to die.
