The Chatterleys go on a ski trip with Reggie's family. Kiff has a hard time connecting with Reggie.
Plot
Kiff, Beryl, and Martin have been invited by Reggie and his parents, Rachel and Robby, to join them on a weekend ski trip to the Slippery Slopes mountain resort. On the drive there, Kiff gives some reassurance to Beryl and Martin, who are hoping to make a good impression on Rachel and Robby, with whom they have never previously socialized outside of their thriller-genre book club. Meanwhile, a storm begins to brew over the mountains.
At Slippery Slopes, the Raconas show the Chatterleys around the cabin where they will all be staying. Just as they are about to head outside to go skiing, they see a breaking news report on Table Town News about the storm, with everyone at the resort being advised to stay indoors. While waiting for the storm to pass, Rachel invites Beryl and Martin to join her and Robby in the hot tub on the balcony. Kiff is left alone in the living room with Reggie, which, to her surprise, she finds incredibly awkward. It then dawns on her that she has rarely interacted with Reggie outside of their friend group.
To break the ice, Kiff suggests to Reggie that they can play a game while waiting out the storm. Not realizing Kiff means a game for both of them to play, Reggie takes out his tablet to play a mobile game he has been coding. While trying to switch off the TV, however, he finds that the remote's batteries are dead. Reggie and Kiff search the cabin for new batteries and stumble upon a closet filled with blankets. The two both excitedly realize that they can use the blankets to build a blanket fort in the living room.
Kiff and Reggie build their fort, only to wind up arguing over whether to stick to "traditional" fort-making centered on simple "tucks and corners", or incorporate newer techniques such as supporting their fort with metal clamps. Noticing the adults enjoying themselves outside, Kiff excuses herself and joins them in the hot tub. However, she finds herself unable to relate to their mature conversations and ends up returning to the living room.
Deciding to address the problem directly, Kiff tells Reggie that given how long they have been friends, they should not be having such awkward one-on-one interactions, a sentiment that Reggie agrees with. However, their conversation takes a left turn when Kiff pins the awkwardness entirely on Reggie, calling him stubborn. The two have an angry pillow fight, failing to notice the news on TV that the storm has worsened and that civilians should avoid making loud noises that could potentially trigger an avalanche. When Kiff then accuses Reggie of ruining the vacation, he storms off to his bedroom, loudly slamming the door behind him. It is Kiff, however, whose exasperated grunts end up triggering an avalanche, leaving her and Reggie snowed in.
In her blanket fort, a furious Kiff ponders why she ever befriended Reggie in the first place. She flashes back to their first meeting as toddlers, in which they fought over a book they both wanted to read in school, before recalling several other recent hijinks of theirs. Thinking about just how much they have been through together, Kiff decides to talk things over with Reggie to salvage their friendship. As Reggie has locked the door to his room, Kiff burrows through the snow surrounding the cabin to reach Reggie from the outside.
In a blanket fort of his own, Reggie thinks about his friendship with Kiff and almost has a flashback as well, only to be interrupted by the sound of Kiff knocking on his window. After letting Kiff in, Reggie expects to receive an apology from her, but Kiff counters that they both have things to apologize for. Although neither wants to be the first to apologize, eventually the tension between them begins to ease, with Reggie complimenting Kiff on her inventiveness in getting past his locked door. Kiff reciprocates by complimenting Reggie on the simple act of locking his door. When Reggie mentions that he liked putting the lock to good use because his parents removed the lock from his bedroom door at home, he and Kiff realize that their parents were still outside when the avalanche struck.
Kiff and Reggie find the doorway to the balcony completely blocked by snow, but can hear their parents yelling for help under the snow. With Kiff's paws still sore from tunneling through snow earlier, preventing her from doing so again, she and Reggie instead work together to melt the snow by building a wall of electric blankets charged using waterproof extension cords. While waiting for the blankets to melt the snow, Kiff and Reggie talk again and come to an understanding, realizing that as "two only children with big opinions and take-charge attitudes", they are actually quite similar.
Later, after the snow has melted, the adults relax by the fireplace in the living room, while Kiff and Reggie enjoy the hot tub to themselves.
This is the fourth episode in which Barry does not appear in person (apart from brief appearances in Kiff's flashback), following "Mushroommates", "Dial B for Butt", and "Juice Break".
"Slippery Slopes"/"Of B&B's and Piano Keys" is the first episode of the series not to feature a song.
Kiff, Beryl, and Martin are seen in their swimming clothes for the first time since "Cocina Island", while Reggie is seen in his for the first time since "Sun's Out, Buns Out".
