"Band" is the second segment of the fifth episode of The Weekenders. It premiered on March 25, 2000 alongside "Sitters".

Synopsis

Carver lies that Chum Bukkit will dedicate the show to him and his friends.

Plot

Friday

Tino and his friends have managed to acquire tickets to see their favorite rock band Chum Bukkit, a group they admire for their individual styles and appearances. They run into Ruby and Percy and get into a fan off with each other over who is the bigger fan of the group with it snowballing to Carver claiming that the band will dedicate their song to them specifically at Club Carcass. Tino, Lor, and Tish are upset with Carver's carelessness in not only lying, but dragging them down into it as well. He tells them that they simply need to get a message to Chum Bukkit to convince them to mention them at the concert venue, which they reluctantly agree to.

Saturday

The gang find Chum Bukkit at an autograph signing and decide to send a message to them via the skylight of the building. Carver sends the message down to the band, but upon it reaching them, it becomes apparent that Carver's penmanship is terrible (the group thinks his message is a string of nonsense poetry that is inspirational to them). They are caught by Chum Bukkit's polite and friendly bodyguard who sends them on their way. Feeling that their mission is destined to fail, Carver insists that they continue on so that they won't be a laughing stock come Monday. The group manage to locate the hotel that the band is staying at.

The gang make a pathetic attempt to get directed to Chum Bukkit's hotel room, though the concierge, who speaks with a fake French accent, immediately turns them away. They resort to a backup plan by sneaking into the building. After finding the room (the bodyguard is in front of it), Tish writes the note, but it lands in a water goblet and Chum Bukkit once again assumes it's from a mysterious poet. Once again, Bison the Bodyguard turns them away. Back at home, Tino voices his frustrations of the conflict to his mother who tells him that the best thing to do is embrace the ridicule from their peers and wait for it to blow over, which Tino scoffs at.

Sunday

Carver's last stand is for them to simply meet them at Club Carcass and ask them point blank. Outside the venue, Carver holds up a sign reading, "Have Mercy, Chum Bukkit", but due to his lousy writing, it looks like, "Hole Moped Clam Boil Cat". Chum Bukkit immediately sweeps the gang up, assuming that they are poets, and has them sit with them in the dressing room. Carver admits to the whole conflict that arose, but they thank him for the lyrics (which were legally free). As Chum Bukkit performs to the audience they do a shout out to the gang (getting their names wrong, again due to Carver's writing), and continue to enjoy the concert.
