"Sitters" is the first segment of the fifth episode of The Weekenders. It premiered on March 25, 2000 alongside "Band".

Synopsis

Carver's parents have to go to a conference, so he has to look after his little brother, Todd.

Plot

Friday

Tino is ready to enjoy the weekend, but notes that Carver has a family meeting for the day which brings concern to everyone. Carver learns that for Saturday and Sunday, his parents will be gone and that Penny has other commitments, meaning that it will be up to him to babysit his baby brother Todd, which he accepts reluctantly after his father threatens to cut his allowance. At the pizza place, Carver tells his friends of the news, but notes that that that is no reason to not have fun for the weekend. The four will interchangeably babysit Todd in three hour increments so that they can all enjoy the day away. They agree, though Tish senses danger afoot.

Saturday

First Carver takes over babysitting, with Penny warning him to not give Todd any sugar. Things seem fine at first, but when he takes his eyes off of Todd for a moment, he gets into the sugar and begins to run wild. Todd ends up making a mess of the house as Carver is unable to keep the toddler under control. Tish shows up to see a disheveled Carver, but takes over her duties anyway. She attempts to teach Todd some lessons in literature, but the toddler isn't having any of it. When Tish makes any attempt to try and educate him, Todd lashes out and ends up destroying many of her things. Tino arrives to take over for Tish.

Tino takes Todd outside to play with the dog Princess, but Todd sneakily tricks them into falling into bush and blasts them with water, much to their annoyance. Lor is the last to take over and tries to give Todd a bath, only for him to make a mess of the bathroom. She attempts to catch him, but he manages to outsmart her and leaves her flummoxed. Carver returns home to see the house in ruins and Lor frustrated from her shift. He quickly puts things back in order before his parents get home, though he is forced to shove all of the things left behind in the closet. That night, he has a nightmare of a giant Todd eating his friends.

Sunday

In the morning, Carver is terrified of the fact that he has to look out for Todd again for one more day. Tino tells his mother about the suffering they individually had to endure from babysitting Todd, but she wisely tells him that it would be much better if they worked together. Seeing as how they love hanging out, it would make more sense that babysitting be a team effort. Tino, Lor, and Tish arrive to aid Carver in his time of need. Having gotten wise to many of Todd's tricks, they manage to successfully watch over the toddler while keeping the house in order. Afterwards, the friends spend the evening at Funville to celebrate.
