"First Class" is the second segment of the tenth episode of The Rocketeer. It premiered on February 72020 alongside "Cleared for Takeoff".

Plot

At the cafe, Kit is ready for flight school. Sareena has prepared an airplane waffle for her as Tesh arrives, ready to walk Kit to school on her first day. Kit shows off her flight school uniform while thanking Sareena for the breakfast, which Butch eats. Later, Tesh tells Kit what she needs to make sure of, including testing his new rocket.

Kit soon enters the school, where he meets up with Mr. Coleman, who was about to show his other new students, Ben and Logan, around. Mr. Coleman gives Kit the flight manual before showing them the flight simulators. He mentions that they're like a video game. The actual flying comes later, after plenty of practice in the simulator, where it's safer to make mistakes. Ben and Logan hear a real plane right above them. They and Kit see it landing, and Valerie shows up, as she was about to be late for class. Mr. Coleman reminds her of not using the town's streets as runways. Valerie has three planes for flight shows, races, and exhibitions. She's still in flight school as more training never hurts. Valerie's mother states that having an expert like her here is good for business.

Kit recognizes Valerie's plane as a real Corsican SkyFang 7S. That type is special because it can land on short runways. Valerie assumes class will be more fun with Kit around. At the class, Kit states that what makes planes fly are the lift, the force that pushes them up. The students study their flight manuals while Mr. Coleman grabs some new worksheets. Valerie thinks of it as hopeless, as there's nothing she can learn in a book that she couldn't learn better in the sky. Kit thinks of Valerie as so cool.

After class, Kit decides to come over to Valerie's family's hangar, and then find Tesh. At the hangar, Kit is amazed of the Beechcraft AirLuxe. There are ten of them on the planet, and Kit can't believed she's seeing one. Valerie shows off her airshow trophies, which she won a lot of. Kit is also impressed to see a Houston SPF, planes with the secret compartment. Valerie didn't know that, and Kit thanks her for inviting her over. Valerie thinks she and Kit are two of a kind: ace pilots ready to rule the sky.

Kit soon catches up with Tesh, who tells her that she made it in time for his model rocket's launch. Tesh just followed the directions mostly, and the rocket flies out of control. Kit suits up and chases the rocket throughout Hughesville. Kit is able to catch it and power it off before returning it to Tesh. Kit apologizes for not being here, and she and Tesh decide to hang out tomorrow after flight class for sure. Tesh decides for them to meet at Ambrose's hangar with Kit reading the directions.

Later, it is time for the class to start flight simulations. Kit will be flying in a storm, with the winds making flying dangerous. Kit is tasked to stay on course and make it to the flagpole safely. Kit is able to avoid the thunderclouds and go through the green rings. She soon makes it to the finish line. It is Valerie's turn, but she veers off course and makes it to the finish line anyway. Mr. Coleman tells Valerie that if it was a real flight, getting that close to the thunderclouds would not have been safe, although Valerie made it look pretty good.

The class then leaves the school with a storm coming. Valerie tells Kit about a surprise she wants to show her. Kit refuses but tells Valerie to come with her. Valerie states that her mother has a new type of plane, one that's not even for sale yet. Kit decides for a quick look before leaving.

Valerie shows Kit the plane before the latter goes to leave to meet Tesh. However, Valerie decides to take the plane for a test flight, which Kit is against. As she leaves, Valerie decides to go by herself as rain starts to pour. Meanwhile, Ambrose tells Tesh that the steering in his rocket is broken. Kit tells everyone about the storm and Valerie flying through it. Ambrose knows that those planes aren't made for the weather. Kit orders Valerie to land immediately, but she rejects and continues to fly the plane. Later, one of its ailerons falls off, and Valerie calls for help.

Kit flies to Valerie's rescue, and she is able to turn the plane around. She finds a trophy that looks like an aileron while Valerie keeps the plane steady. That turns out to be Valerie's Nationals trophy, and Kit plugs it in the plane. This will help Valerie land, and Kit guides her to go slow. Eventually, Valerie lands the plane on the runway.

The next day, Valerie tells Kit that her mother asked Mr. Coleman to give her extra flight homework. She should've listened to Kit and stayed on the ground, and Kit is glad Valerie is okay. Valerie's mother wasn't happy about her breaking her new plane. As a result, Valerie is not allowed in the hangar for a month, but Kit has Valerie as a friend because Valerie is fun and loves airplanes like Kit. They're two of a kind, and Valerie decides to hang out with Kit and Tesh after class; Ambrose is letting them help him build a plane from scratch. Kit knows Valerie will get through the homework in time with a friend to help.
