Jonathan Roberts is an American television producer, writer, and author. He is known for co-writing The Lion King. For Disney, he has written The Lion King (1994), James and the Giant Peach (1996), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), and Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc. (2001). He also co-produced the FOX series Beverly Hills 90210 (1991-1992).
Born in Boston, MA; Roberts studied English literature at Brown University and took a summer graduate program on book and magazine publishing at Harvard before launching his career such as The 80s: A Look Back and The Official Preppy Handbook.
Roberts joined Disney's story department in the early 1990s and worked on Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey before joining Irene Mecchi and Linda Woolverton in co-writing The Lion King which gained critical and financial success for the company.
