Timothy J. "Tim" Disney is a member of the Disney family and was a co-writer of the screenplay for Oliver & Company.
Tim was born in 1961 to Roy E. Disney and Patricia Ann Dailey and is the youngest of four children.[1] He attended Harvard University in 1979 and majored in Art History, graduating with a BFA in 1983. He worked briefly at Walt Disney Animation during this time where he contributed significantly to the screenplay of Oliver & Company as well as learning about the filmmaking process. Soon he branched out on his own with a career as an independent film director and producer.
In 2000, he co-founded Uncommon Productions with Bill Haney and released several films, such as A Question of Faith, Tempesta, and American Violet as well as the documentaries A Life Among Whales, The Price of Sugar, Jim Allison: Breakthrough, and Cracking the Code: Phil Sharp and the Biotech Revolution. In 2019, he wrote and directed William for Dada Films.
Outside of the film industry, Tim has taken a role in the philanthropic side of his family when it came to arts education. He joined the CalArts board of trustees in 1993, becoming Chairman in 2014 until 2022. Among his contributions, he contributed to the building of the Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT), in the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex. He also served as the inaugural leader of the REDCAT Council.[2] He has also donated his time and resources to various organizations, such as the Children's Institute in Los Angeles and served on the board of the Southern California Institute of Architecture.[3]
