"Making a Splash" is the first segment of the seventy-second episode of Vampirina. It premiered on April 5, 2021 alongside "The Spelling Vee", and is the first segment of the twenty-second episode in the third season.

Synopsis

Vee's best friend from Transylvania visits for the Firefly Festival, but gets too hot during a Pennsylvania heat wave.

Plot

Vampirina is preparing for the arrival of her best friend from Transylvania, Swampy. She plans to show her everything about Pennsylvania and the Firefly Festival tonight. Poppy and Bridget know about it and Vampirina told Swampy about it last year. Vampirina pours potion into the sink and Swampy appears, delighted to see Vampirina. Swampy reveals to have brought her and Vampirina's friendship bracelets. Swampy knows Poppy and Bridget, and is excited to learn about the Scare B&B and the Firefly Festival. Swampy voices the new things she'll get to experience in Pennsylvania.

Swampy's dad sent her a tank, as she needs a lot of water for her gills. Vampirina and Demi know it. While Oxana and Boris prepare for the Firefly Festival as Edna instructed them to do, Swampy tells Vampirina and her friends to head to the park early for the Firefly Festival, having brought snacks to take with them. On the way to the park, Swampy notices the hot weather and gets the gillies, which she gets when she's out of the water too long. Vampirina suggests going inside, where Swampy gets better when she returns to her tank. She mentions that in Transylvania, it wasn't dry and hot. Vampirina decides to figure something out, and Swampy decides to bring the tank with them so she can dip in whenever she needs. It's so heavy that it can't be moved, so during the walk to the park, Demi decides to fill the sidewalk with puddles, but says poodles by accident.

Swampy then returns to her tank, and wonders if there's no way for her to get to the park when Vampirina brings a ghoul pool. Demi then inflates it so that Swampy can stay there during the walk to the park. Eventually, the tank hits a rock, causing the water to rush out and Swampy telling Vampirina to head to the festival without her. As Swampy prepares to head back to Transylvania, Poppy suggests a sleepover, but Vampirina decides to not let Swampy down, no matter what.

Vampirina then sees someone carrying a water tank and informs Swampy about it. The others arrive with another water tank, and Swampy thanks them for it. Soon, everyone arrives for the Firefly Festival, which has seating arrangements that have the Hauntley touch, which Swampy loves. Vampirina tells Swampy that on a hot summer day, it is comfortable for swamp monsters and humans. Edna arrives, having told everything about the festival by Oxana. Everyone then watches the fireflies with Swampy thanking Vampirina for making her first trip to Pennsylvania memorable. Vampirina states that when she and Swampy are together, they always make a splash.
