Synopsis
When Boris volunteers to chaperone Vee nature walk field trip, she hypes up his spookiness, only to be let down.
Plot
Vampirina tells Oxana and Boris that tomorrow is the school field trip, where the class will go on a nature walk. Boris tells Vampirina of the enchanted forest walks they used to go on at her old school in Transylvania. He was a great guide, and the note says that the school needs volunteers to be chaperones. Demi shows up, wanting to be a chaperone, but Gregoria is against the idea, and mentions what a chaperone does. Bones will be Vampirina's chaperone for the trip.
At school, Poppy, Bridget, and Edgar are glad Vampirina has Boris as her chaperone. She tells them the different things Boris did during his nature walks in Transylvania, and assumes he will do the same things at human school. Boris then shows up, hiding his vampire sides. The class greets Boris and Edna, the chaperones for the trip. Demi suddenly shows up, deciding to join on the walk. Vampirina says it's okay as long as he stays in his backpack. Boris reveals a human pack, which is all the rage, and Edna has one just like that.
The nature walk then begins, and Vampirina tells Demi that Boris has something spooktacular planned. First up is bird-watching. Vampirina and Boris have been getting good at transforming into bats when no one's looking. Boris brings out a periscope, which other kids use. After Demi mentions a fact about turning into a bat, Vampirina mentions that Boris can roar like a monster and howl like a werewolf. He then uses his new human bird whistle to call the indigo bunting. Vampirina tells Poppy and Bridget that Boris is not doing anything like he used to. The bird then flies away. Poppy wants to try the bird whistle, as well as Bridget.
Next is lunch, and Vampirina hopes it will be better before telling Edgar about the human things she and Boris did. Edgar tells Poppy and Bridget that he and Edna saw a spotted owl, whose head spun all the way around. Vampirina knows that Boris is acting strange and not in the good way. Demi tells Vampirina to have food, and Boris reveals to have combined two of his human lunches into a spaghetti and tuna fish sandwich. However, the kids don't like it, but Boris mentions that those are three of his favorite human foods. Vampirina doesn't understand how Boris is so different, as he is being too human. She doesn't want him to change who he is just to fit in.
Boris hears everything, and gets his spooky pack, as he is being himself. He mentions that people change, as well as vampires. Boris loves human culture and learning about Pennsylvania. That's why he stayed up all night to do research for his first human school trip. Boris tells Vampirina that even when things change, the only thing that will be same is that Boris will be Vampirina's same, silly old himself underneath. They love each other, and Boris reveals to have brought lunch for Vampirina, just in case. Later, the kids enjoy the sandwiches, and Vampirina tries it, as although it contains different ingredients, it is still a special field trip lunch made by the best chaperone, and father, ever. Demi reveals to have ate the other lunch.
